The Canterbury Mission Society
17 Fairview Avenue, Coventry, Rhode Island
Mission Statement
“The Canterbury Mission Society is a Biblically-based
society dedicated to making and strengthening disciples of Jesus Christ.”
History
The Canterbury Mission Society was formed on September 15, 2005 for the purpose
of providing support and encouragement to groups wishing to worship in the historic
Anglican tradition. The Society’s initial specific function was to provide financial
and other support to the congregation of the Church of Saint Andrew and Saint
Philip as it separated from the Episcopal Church and became the Church of The
Apostles. The Canterbury Mission Society purchased the church property from
the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island, and it is still technically the owner
of that property. Since then, almost all of the Society’s activities have been
directly connected to the activities of Church of The Apostles, and all Active
Members of Church of The Apostles are automatically designated as members of
The Canterbury Mission Society.
